Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd recounted their episodes and this has created quite a furore on social media. Celebrities including Meryl Streep, Lena Dunham, Jennifer Lawrence and George Clooney have made statements to show their support to the victims who have faced Weinstein’s ways and also criticised the producer. But these cases aren’t just from the recent past. Many of these date back to the 90s and it brings light to the fact that for many years, nobody came forth to report the man. The New York Times report says that for many years, Harvey’s reputation was known by the insiders, and his harassment cases were common knowledge.
Weighing in on the Harvey Weinstein controversy, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur tweeted, “Talking of #HarveyWeinstein. All of #hollywood is complicit. For 20 yrs they knew and treated it as a joke. Everyone. Why did no one speak?”
Director Shekhar Kapur, who has directed various international films, has been a part of Hollywood for almost two decades. With films like, ‘Elizabeth’ (1998), ‘The Four Feathers’ (2002) ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’ (2007), ‘New York, I Love You’ (2008) and ‘Passage’ (2009) to his credit in the West, Shekhar Kapur has been actively making films in Hollywood.

Shekhar Kapur is known for making films like ‘Mr. India’ (1987) and ‘Bandit Queen’ (1994) in India. Harvey Weinstein’s lawyers are claiming that these allegations are fabricated.
